Tested the program last night, I think it will work well for my application. I am going away for six weeks and I want to wake the computer up each day, so that I can log in and do banking and retrieve emails etc.

Opinion.

Wosb is a very light weight and an extremely handy tool which helps me in running certain tasks at a specified time. It really saves me some sleep. As I can schedule a task too. So go ahead and download it. I wrote about it in my blog too.

Actually, I was looking to wake up my notebook on AC power, what I'm doing with a trick using Windows Task Scheduler. It would be better to accomplish that using a software other than task scheduler. Your software works fine, but don't have the feature I need (wake up on AC power).

This is great software. I tried using Windows scheduler but it caused a malfunction with my download manager. This program is straightforward, easy to use, and non-intrusive. Highly recommended to all. AAA+++

Literally "does what it says on the tin." Not only that, but it comes equipped with a few fabulous features; allows you to tell it to operate some function on alarm. As in, I chose to play a song from YouTube. A firm five out of five.

Hi,

Great utility.....but I do I get it to keep the computer on after waking it out of standby? It wakes correctly but then after 15 minutes or so it goes back into standby.

unfortunately the wake up on stanby didnt work. I'm not sure if it was my fault or i did something wrong while downloading the wakeuponstandby but when i finally activated the program my computer never managed to wakeup from the stand by mode...too bad

So far my experience with this program has been good. I'm no computer guru for sure and I had no problems getting going with it. I kind of don't like having to turn off the password requirement upon wake up but I'll live with that. Other than that I have no complaints and everything is working just as it was described. Nice job and thanks.

It's a wonderful product, and works exactly as advertised. I use it to power my computer on during the day to run a scheduled virus scan. Then, after two hours, the computer goes to sleep, saving energy!

Opinion

It didn't work for me on my Windows XP machines. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong or not. I found another way to wake up my machines by using a scheduled task.

This might be a good program, I just didn't want to take the time to troubleshoot my problem.

I'm not often impressed, but this genuinely useful utiity has done just that. Easy install and utilisation. And more importantly - it works - right out of the box.

I use it to grab data at predetermined times and as I am often travelling, I'm not awlays awake at these set times. This, will make a LOT of difference.

Very clever, very smart tool.

WakeonStandby is a very useful program. My computer is fairly limited because of a really unuseful bios which doesn't have any advanced options or to wake up the computer from power down. This program allows me to merely wake up my computer so over the course that it's on, the virus scan can complete and update itself and the defrag program can run, and after all this, it will re-hibernate my computer. I think it's very useful, and possibly the only few things i'd be looking for are with this being able to boot up with the computer and having and interface that allowed it. I use vista 32 bit, and this utility is more useful than my task scheduler.

WOL still Asleep

Hi, thank you for the followup.
The installation was without problems but I have not yet managed to get the Remote Computer to Wake Up from Sleep. Must be something in my NIC PCI card that I have not yet managed to understand.

No better than WakeUp

Neither of these programs work on my computer. They don't wake it up and when either one of these are fixed and working it would be nice to add a Word Pad document with clear directions on how to use them to the download. It might be that I am not configuring them correctly, but without directions, I will never know.

Doesn`t seem to always wake my computer up.

I used this program for a few days and it seems to wake my computer up only a little over 50 percent of the time. I have used other programs that are similar to this that do the same thing. So I guess that all programs do the same thing so it doesn't matter.

Great Backup tool.

This tool works great for making sure that my PC is one for scheduled backups. I've been using it to wake up my PCs for their scheduled backup while still allowing them to go to low power modes for energy saving.

Some suggestions

Here's some suggestions for your consideration:
1. Device a way to change the wakeup schedule without turning WOSB off. Many times I would forget to turn it on again after changing the time.
2. Allow "turn-off" time to be more flexible by adding the option to override turn-off time if the computer is still being used.
3. Make turn-off time independent of wakeup time. I'm not sure what happens if I manually wake my computer before the scheduled time. Will it turn off x hours from that time or from the originally scheduled wakeup time?

WAOS Good freeware, lacking some features.

Uncluttered interface. Ease of setup. Not to many features. I would have liked to set times for both startup and shutdown of PC. A auto login feature would also be nice. All in all a nice free ware program that will stay on my PC.

Does exactly what I want it to do

All I wanted was my pc to turn on at a specified time, run a program and then go back into hibernation ready for the cycle to repeat. It does this simply and efficiently. Brilliant little program. Now I don't have to listen to my noisy pc by day and by night it can work away with me out of the way.

Fantastic freebee

Great to see some software that can wake my computer up from standby without crashing it. I use it to use the computer as a clock radio to wake me in the morning and it does this well. No complaints.

Very Good, a little confusing.

The program is very good, i'm a little disappointed by the repeat task item, I wasn't sure if it was going to come on tomorrow or not. I wouldn't recommend it to my mother, but someone with a little more computer knowledge, without a doubt.

I use this program to wake up at 5:30am, I have a rule set up in Outlook to print my daily agenda from Google Calendar, so my agenda is waiting for me each day when I wake, it does the job magnificently.

Exactly as advertised

I needed something that would wake up my computer to perform a backup to tape every night, and WakeUpOnStandby does exactly that. It was easy to set up, and once I reset my power settings so that it didn't go to hibernate, it worked perfectly. Thanks!

Great control features

This was not exactly what I was looking for. Though it has terrific features for being able to control power on/off for your computer I was looking for something to be able to wake the computer remotely so that I can access from overseas via logmein. Any ideas would be appreciated to ashleyf@aapt.net.au

WakeupOnStandBy

Was looking for a product to wake up my pc remotely from my laptop. This was achieved successfully after a few attempts. I wanted to hibernate my pc, as i currently run it 24/7, but did not wish to go to its location to do so to turn it off.

After trying a few different scenarios, I have found that if I use the command to start a program up (utorrent), then the pc will acivate from hibernation. If i give no such command ie starting an application up, then the pc does not come out of hibernation.

The product is perfect for my use and would happily recommend it to others, plus I will be donating today.

Recomendation:
if there were a shutdown on requested time it would be better. I have to usethe "switch off" for that purpose.

Good for certain jobs only

This program works well but does not correctly handle Windows configurations that require the user to enter a password when waking up from standby. Hence the back up scripts did not execute. If you don't need to use passwords the range of functions that is provides for Wakeup, Running applications and then shutting down the PC is very good.

Wake up....

I think that WakeupOnStandBy is an exelent program, to be abel to start and put my computer on standby is great, now I can put my computer to sleep when I go to work and it's awake and ready when I get home.
I originaly downloaded the program to use it as an Alarm clock that I could use on my computer without having to leave the computer on the hole night.
The program handels this task very well, there are only two things I'd like added to the program, the possibility to make and save wakeups and shutdowns for several days in the week without having to reset the program each time.
The second thing is that I'd wish for the program to be abel to play mp3's without having to use my existing mp3 player, it's exelent that the program can execute programs or files on start up and that is sufficient for my needs but I'd still like it if it could play a mp3 without distrubing my mp3 player.
